Pastor's Page

Well, summer is officially upon us. I would like to savor this time and not be looking forward to the fall, but I must confess, I've gone there and we haven't even gotten thru "Vacation Bible School" yet!

For me, Camp Kelly opening ushers in our summer season and I am happy to report, the cabins and campsites are ready for us! I hope families as well as individuals are making plans to attend "Family Camp" July 23-25 at Camp Kelly.
We're looking fairly busy, we WUMC'ers, with VBS, mission trips, family and horse camps, and UMW rummage sale (July 30 and 31st). Where's out "down time"? When do we find a Sabbath (not necessarily a Sunday) that seems to lend itself to the summer months?

Jesus managed to find Sabbath. We can make a list of excuses as to why we aren't able to "do" Sabbath. How about making a list of excuses as to all those reasons to make time for Sabbath? It restored out Lord, it will restore us!
Put Summer Sabbath at the top of your "to do" list.
God needs us rested, received and rejuvenated!
Happy Summer Sabbath.

Love,
Pastor Gayle.

From the United Methodist Church Archieves

Suppose you are vacationing far from home. You drive around, looking for a church in which to worship Sunday morning. Suddenly you see a familiar sight: a Cross and Flame insignia on a sign, pointing you to the nearest United Methodist Church. You've just proved how symbols and pictures provide instant recognition, meaning and a sense of belonging.

Indeed, the Cross and Flame emblem is a powerful reminder of who and Whose we are as United Methodists. That's why protecting and preserving its use and integrity are just as important today as when the insignia was created and registered as No. 917,433 with the United States Patent and Trademark Office more than three decades ago.

New Music Program?

I am looking for input.
My Orff instruments are at the church and available. We tried to practice during Sunday school and it seriously interrupted their program. I'd like to have an Orff music program - not necessarily just for kids. The insturments were designed by Carl Orff with children in mind.
Therefore, no music background is needed for kids to be successful and success on the instruments is built into the program. Flexibility is built into the program so if one area doesn't work for you, another one is available. Orff incorporates movement, creativity, speech, and percussion instruments - lots of ways to be successful.
Please send me your ideas/input at  vmiller957@aol.com   or call 625-1928.
We might find success practicing after church (after a quick social visit) for 45-60 minutes. I have access to spirituals and can get music

If anyone is interested in helping set up or participate in this type of music ministery (could be a family thing), please give me some input.

Thanks for your help.
