Pastor's Page

It was with great trepidation when I decided--after time in prayer and with the help of the Holy Spirit--to spend this fall discerning our vision for Children's Christian Ministry and suspend Sunday School for a season.

Our "Season of Prayer' continues. We started the school year receiving names of our kids we'd pray for throughout the year, we made time for silent prayer during Sunday worship service, or prayer circle meets every Wednesday at  7pm--it's all about prayer and it should be.

The disciples 'tarried' in prayer before they began their ministry (check out ACTS!) we're in good company people!
I confess, I've been anxious, not having Sunday school for the kids.  Prayer has helped me alleviate some of that anxiety and already the benefits of the Season of Prayer are manifest and revealed in pro-found ways.

Thank you for your willingness to participate in this Season of Prayer, in whatever way you are.  Thank you for joining in all our discernment for guidance and direction. Thank you for being the body of Christ God is calling us to be.

New Parking Lot!

Our parking lot was chip sealed this past week!
Which meant that on  Sunday we had to park on the street, out in the alley, wherever we could.
Next week... it will be filled to the brim with cars.

A chairperson for the Christian Ed Committee is needed.

COMING SOON!

During the season of Advent, we had a small group gathering, where we read and discussed the book “The Journey” by Adam Hamilton. It was a fun and interesting time for all of those participating, the only problem being was that there was not enough time to discuss everything we wanted to.

Because it was so successful and so enjoyed, during Lent Pastor Gayle is going to use the book, “24 Hours that Changed the World”, also by Adam Hamilton, to inspire her sermons.
Pastor’s intent is to involve the whole congregation in studies of this wonderful book.
During the Sundays of Lent, beginning on February 26th, there will again be a study group after worship, from 11:30-12:30.
Pastor also would like anyone to feel free to begin an evening study or an morning tea study, on the book. Please see her if you feel God is calling you to facilitate this study during the Lenten Season.

No single event in human history has received more attention than the suffering and crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth. In this book, Adam Hamilton guides us through the last twenty-four hours of Jesus' life. Each chapter is designed to help the reader experience and understand the significance of Jesus' suffering and death in a way you have never done before. Whether readers are long-time Christians or simply curious about the story of Christ's crucifixion, they are invited to join the author in retracing the last 24 hours of Jesus' life.

Church Council Meeting Coming in February

All committees must meet, this month and elect a chairperson to represent at a
Church Council meeting
coming in February.
(date to be announced soon)
**********

2nd SUNDAY AFTER EPIPHANY
The Whole theme of the epiphany season is the revelation of Christ our light and the coming of his kingdom.  And we not only need Him to call us to repentance, but we also need Him to accomplish it in us. We need the word of God to expose our sin and death by the wisdom of His law.  Then we are made ready for the coming of His blessed kingdom in His Gospel.

Pastor's Page

And now—we’re off! We journeyed through Bethlehem, celebrated the birth of Jesus, bingoed in the New Year and now, looking toward the future as we hear of Jesus’ work in the world that culminates in his death and resurrection.

We’ve got some ground to cover, as Jesus did. With the Holy Spirit guiding us and helping us discern the best use of our talents and treasures, we are in good company.

May I just say ONE MORE TIME, how thrilled I am to be the Pastor at WUMC! Our church conference left us in very good hands, with both new and seasoned members serving. I am so happy with Rolly Rollison’s willingness to serves us as lay leader this year. We all need to thank him.

I am so convinced that with God’s help, all things are possible. As we continue to discern our mission and vision for the future, we look to each other for companionship and fellowship on the journey, and God’s love to see us through everything!

Blessings, Pastor Gayle
